This is because Windows7 searches for compatible drivers but ends up using the wrong one and "Conexant HD Audio drivers" were being supported only up until Windows Vista. So Win7 doesn't actually see Conexant HD as a sound driver.Windows XP to 7 (32-bit) : Conexant High Definition Audio driver....
